Who are we?

The Worcestershire Literary Festival is a not for profit organisation and our registered address is County House, St Mary’s Street, Worcester WR1 1HB.

The Worcestershire Literary Festival will return June 15th-24th 2012 and will also run various events throughout the year. The Worcestershire Literary Festival encompasses:

  • Spoken word performances.
  • Seminars.
  • Workshops.
  • Poetry open mic sessions and poetry slams.
  • Competitions.
  • Book signings and talks by local and well known authors.
  • An outdoor book stall market.
  • Schools and children’s events and activities.
  • Music that tells a story.

The Worcestershire Literary Festival aims to develop and support a wide range of literary activities and events, encompassing many venues in the county including Huntingdon Hall and The Swan Theatre, St Swithun’s Church, Worcester Arts Workshop, The Art House Café, AiR Café Bar, The Countryside Centre and Orchard Café, The Kings School Theatre, Worcester University, The Elgar Centre, The Artrix Theatre in Bromsgrove, Number 8 in Pershore, The Regal Cinema in Evesham, Kidderminster Arts Centre, The Lygon Arms in Broadway, The Elms Hotel in Abberley, The Royal Grammar School Worcester and many more.  We also have many schools in Worcestershire who want to take part and participate in the Festival this year.

We are currently managing a number of key strategic partnerships with local and regional organisations, publishers and other organisations such as Visit Worcester, Worcestershire County Council, Worcester City Council, Apples & Snakes, Arts Council West Midlands and hope to enhance these relationships and develop many more.

We aim to develop and deliver literary seminars, workshops, events, readings, music that tells a story and various bespoke projects in the Worcestershire Literary Festival, to be held in 2012 from 15th June to 24th June, and we already organise and host several very successful events under the Worcestershire Literary Festival banner – Parole Parlate, Worcester’s only dedicated spoken word platform (monthly at Little Venice Restaurant, Worcester), Learn : Eat : Perform Workshops (monthly at Worcester Arts Workshop and live readings of popular literary classics at Worcester City Library (so far the Worcestershire Literary Festival team have read “The Hobbit” by Tolkien to raise funds for Children In Need which was officially launched and opened by Robin Walker MP, Member of Parliament for Worcester and covered live on radio by Howard Bentham of BBC Hereford and Worcester, and Dickens “Christmas Carol” in December 2010.
