An Eyeful of Words is a colourful poetry-art exhibition set to make a splash at Droitwich Library gallery from Monday, June 4 to Wednesday, June 27.
The combined medium exhibition by Droitwich poet Sarah James aims at using art and photography to open up poetry to wider audience.
The photos and canvases, many of which celebrate nature and the local surroundings, have been chosen to interact with their accompanying poems and offer an alternate way into the word experience.
The exhibition, which also marks the second anniversary of Sarah’s collection Into the Yell, is a Worcestershire Literary Festival event and a Droitwich Music and Arts Festival event.
As part of the exhibition, visitors will be invited to contribute their artistic/poetical response to the individual works or whole experience.
Sarah will also be running two drop-in poetry workshops, exploring art as a source of inspiration. The first on Tuesday June 5th from 5.30pm to 7.00pm will be a Jubilee Themed Workshop.
The second on Saturday June 23rd from 11.00am to 1.00pm will focus on the haiku form and taking inspiration from art. Both workshops will also include the chance to explore the exhibition and talk to Sarah about An Eyeful of Words and poetry in general.
